Proclaiming Christ in the Caribbean

    While they wait…

Harvest Turks & Caicos has been without a permanent pastor for nearly two years—but in the waiting they've not been sedentary!

God has used a core leadership team to build and grow this ministry during their time of transition. Preaching of the Word is accomplished through a combination of Harvest video sermons and live teaching by the local leadership team, with vibrant worship led via DVD. A flourishing Children’s Ministry is drawing in islanders, as this area of ministry has been left largely unserved by other local churches. God is using even these basics to bring His message to the people on this island. Clearly, He is already at work there.

    Now…

    Who will He send?

As Harvest Bible Fellowship leaders prayed and sought after the right man to shepherd this plant, Pastor Tim Rezac and his wife, Patty, came to mind. Having led a church in Indiana for 18 years, Pastor Tim had the proven maturity and experience needed. In 2009, Fellowship leaders asked if he would be interested in switching up his ministry, just a bit…

    From Indiana to island

Although it meant leaving behind a healthy ministry in Indiana, Pastor Tim felt led to answer this call: “The Lord directed us to make this transition from Indiana to the island.”

It would not be the first time Tim and Patty faced such a decision. After 20 years as a GM employee, working at a job he enjoyed, Tim revealed that he and Patty came to a crossroads. Together they decided it was “time to make a career change, and do what we love rather than what we like…to follow our hearts.” At this point, Tim completed divinity school and entered ministry full time. Now, after pastoring for 18 years in Indiana, he and Patty have long felt ready to start the next chapter. Eager and anxious to get to their new church home, it is clear God has prepared them for this next journey.

    But first…

    Equipping heart and mind

Pastor Tim is currently at the Harvest Training Center preparing to take the pulpit. Asked how this is aiding in his preparation Tim notes, “It’s about relationship building. I am hanging out with the men and women of Harvest, absorbing the Harvest DNA, and getting even more excited. You can’t help but absorb it into your heart and pass it along to those on the island.”

    Looking to the future

Pastor Tim is excited to apply the Harvest model in this transitioning church. He plans to “get the big rocks in place” for a firm foundation, including developing the assimilation process, working on small groups, and providing high impact worship services. He also hopes to transition from a leadership team to the establishment of “a mature body of elders to lead the church.”

    So, let’s get this started…

    And they’re off!

The Rezacs are island bound in early March, with Sunday, March 14 dedicated as a celebration and welcome service. Pastor Tim noted it will be “new beginnings, the merging of pastor and church...quite an exciting, fun, and deeply satisfying journey. I am anxious to see what God will do, and looking forward to it.”

    God’s provision

Praise God for His loving care over and continued provision for this church!

    Pray as their journey continues:

    • For guidance and perseverance as a new foundation is built
    • For the establishment of a strong board of elders
    • That Christ is proclaimed and glorified in the Caribbean!
