Padam Tamang

    Pastor, Harvest Kavre-Panauti, Nepal

Born into a middle-class Buddhist family, Padam devoted himself whole-heartedly to Hindu gods. While at his school library he came across The Human Heart, a Christian tract describing the universal longing for God all humans are given. Padam became restless with this truth and searched for a Christian church and a “holy man” who could explain them. He traveled 3.5 hours by foot to Panauti, the nearest town. There he met an old friend, a Christian named Simon. Surprised to find Padam looking for a church and seeking the truth of God’s Word, Simon took him to his church. Padam was riveted and gripped by the Gospel and on February 26, 2001 gave his life to the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized.

Padam took the good news of Jesus back to his village, but was rejected there. He returned to Panauti where he was free to worship and grow in Christ. He enrolled in and completed two years of study at a Bible Training Center. He married his wife, Sanu, and they devoted themselves to proclaiming Jesus. As a result of their faithfulness, a group of thirty Nepali believers formed. Padam was introduced to Pastor Timothy of Harvest Bible Chapel Kathmandu, and through Timothy, to the Fellowship.
